Dr Sarah Abdo is a consultant endocrinologist based in Sydney. She graduated from University of Sydney and completed Endocrinology specialist training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Garvan Institute of Medical Research and Bankstown Hospital.
During her training at St Vincents and the Garvan she gained a broad range of experience in the management of osteoporosis, diabetes, pituitary disorders and thyroid diseases as well as endocrine complications of immunosuppressive agents.
In her final year of training she undertook research in the area of Gestational Diabetes as well as gaining valuable experience at the obesity lifestyle program at Camden Hospital.
Dr Abdo is an extremely approachable and capable physician. She believes strongly in a multidisciplinary approach to the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes and obesity. She will always strive to gain a holistic picture of each patient she sees in order to understand and address all the relevant personal and social factors that may impact on their illness.
She has been a Staff Specialist at Concord Repatriation Hospital working in the Metabolic Rehabilitation Program overseeing the multidisciplinary management of obesity. She is currently a staff specialist at Bankstown Hospital.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia, Australian Diabetes Society, Australian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society, European Association for the Study of Diabetes and US Endocrine Society. She has presented at national meetings and been published in various peer reviewed journals. She is committed to attending various national and international meetings on all aspects of diabetes and hormone health on a regular basis.
